The land of a thousand hills

Rwanda, called “the land of a thousand hills”, stands out for its mountainous territory of volcanoes and dense jungles inhabited by mountain gorillas.

If one of your dreams is to see these animals, but you have few days of vacation or you don’t see yourself with enough energy to do a trek as hard as the one in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, you have the alternative of traveling to Rwanda. The route that is carried out to search for gorillas is much easier. It has fewer sections of jungle and is more linear, since the inclination is less.

In this country separated from Uganda by the Virunga Mountains, Volcanoes National Park awaits you, home to 18 families of gorillas that have become habituated to humans.

Complement your trip by visiting the Nyungwe Forest, an area of incredible biodiversity. It offers excellent hiking trails and the chance to follow in the footsteps of colobus monkeys and, mainly, chimpanzees.

 

To end your adventure, head to one of Africa’s most beautiful savannah reserves, Akagera National Park. You can take a speedboat outing to see all the species that live around the lakes or an interesting 4×4 safari to see rhinos, lions, zebras and antelopes.
