Vietnam is an exotic and captivating country where there is much to be discovered. We suggest that you get to know it, contrarily to what most people do, by traveling from south to north on a journey where the experience will go, little by little, “in crescendo”.
Ho Chi Minh, the nation’s largest and most populous city, awaits you in the south. You will have the opportunity to soak up the authentic Vietnamese atmosphere and appreciate the hustle and bustle of its streets. It has museums, numerous markets (among which the Ben Thanh Market stands out) and buildings with colonial architecture such as the Notre-Dame Basilica in Saigon.
From here, you will head by road to the Mekong Delta, where you will spend the night. You will stay on a boat with one or two cabins and you will have staff at your service to make your stay more pleasant. You can browse the floating markets of Phong Dien and Cai Rang and see how the locals trade on their boats. This particular floating accommodation has an additional simple traditional boat so that you can enter, together with your guide, the narrowest channels as if you were a local. It also has bicycles for you to ride through rural villages and rice fields while enjoying the true essence of the Mekong Delta.
You will continue your Asian adventure by flying towards the center of the country to Danang, to reach two towns very close to each other. The first is Hoi An, a small coastal city that has a beautiful and well-preserved old town where there are corners that will offer you pleasant surprises. If this city is known for something, it is for the hundreds of lanterns that adorn it and that give it color during the day and a magical air at night. The second town you will visit is Hue, the ancient imperial city of Vietnam. It is a jewel that reminds of the forbidden city of Beijing and in whose enclosure you will find palaces and pavilions of the Nguyen dynasty. You can also see beautiful temples like Thien Mu and huge markets like Dong Ba.
Next, you will fly to Hanoi, the highlight of this trip, located in the northern part of Vietnam. The capital is characterized by its lively atmosphere, incessant crowds and vehicles that move, like a swarm, from one place to another. Don’t forget that the best way to see some of the most emblematic places of the city is by going in a tuk-tuk, a picturesque three-wheeled motorcycle that ensures a very fun experience.
You will end your journey by taking an excursion that is a must. It consists of taking a short cruise through Halong Bay, an impressive journey in which you will appreciate the many islands and islets that make up the splendid maritime landscape, as well as genuine floating villages.
If you have more available days and want more Vietnamese dose, before going to Halong Bay, we recommend you go to Bac Ha, a town where one of the most beautiful and colorful markets in this region is held and where they go to sell their products. craftsmen the ethnic groups that inhabit the mountains of Sapa. In this beautiful place you will discover the immense rice terraces that are a true visual spectacle and that, from that moment, you will always remember.
